Sitting in church yesterday morning, I received an odd text from my roommate. Something about my license plates and a cop headed over to talk to me. What? So I headed outside and sure enough, there was a friendly Seattle police officer in the parking lot waiting for me. Turns out someone had stolen a car, the same make and color as mine, and played a little musical license plates game. I was completely unaware but the plates on my car were actually from the stolen vehicle. My plates were found on a third vehicle somewhere else in Seattle. After a little paperwork and some head scratching, the officer was kind enough to help me replace the plates and he was on his way.
Kind of a weird Sunday morning but here are three things about this that actually make me happy about the situation:
1. the thieves stole my license plates but they were careful enough to not damage the WSU alum plate holders or the screws. That was nice of them.
2. I'm really grateful I saw the text and went to the parking lot before the cop came into the church looking for me. Can you imagine the rumors...?
3. I'm also very grateful I didn't get pulled over with the stolen plates. Had the plates been run through the system, the vehicle would have been flagged as stolen. That would have been awkward.
All in all, very little inconvenience to me and it gave me a story to tell Monday morning when coworkers asked 'how was your weekend'. Oh the adventures of street parking...

That is hilarious! Wow, Min, what an exciting life you live! Did you invite the Officer in to church? That would have been a really cool conversion story :)
