Buenos Aires

A recap of the long-awaited trip to Argentina:
First and most importantly we found this familiar stranger standing on the sidewalk outside the (closed) temple grounds, suitcases in hand.

It was so wonderful to have some time with him and hear some of his stories in Buenos Aires. Not to mention how great it was to have a wonderfully fluent translator!

Then we were off to see some of the sites of Buenos Aires.
La Casa Rosada where Eva Paron (and many other of the nation's leaders...and Madonna) addressed the people of Argentina.

La Boca. The river smelled horrible but the beautifully colored buildings were delightful and the tango dancers were entertaining.

And these two really tore it up.

Floralis Generica - or as I like to call it the metal flower. :)

This is where the rich and the powerful of Argentina are laid to rest. They have these huge crypts with the remains of family members and shrines, stained glass and statues.

And the most popular spot - the Duarte Family crypt.

Obelisco

And the food...oh the yummy food! This was a really fun place we ate - siga la vaca (follow the cow). It is a salad/meat buffet. Any cut, any animal part, all you can eat. Can you say meat sweats...

Here are some of the people Robbie introduced us to at church

And a couple of random pictures of the city:

By far my favorite character on calle florida. Can you see the naughty Santa? It takes all types.

And a Very Merry Christmas from Galerias Pacifico!
Such a wonderful trip and I'm so happy I got to go! Thanks Mom and Dad for being willing to go and thanks to my little brother for being such a patient translator and tour guide!!!
Oh and no recap of the trip would be complete without a sample of the song and accompanying dance of the week.

This is a great "Argentina in a Nutshell!" If you could just add the sounds and smells then everyone could get a better feel for what it was like. It was an amazing trip - thanks for going and making sure your dad and I went. It was a trip of a life-time!
Love ya,
Mom
