Diet Coke

So there I was, coming back to the office after lunch, with a soda in one hand and bags in the other. The elevator opened but started to close rather quickly so I reached out and put my soda-bearing hand between the doors in an effort to stop it from moving on without me. Typically the elevator doors have sensors that cause the doors to open when an object blocks it. Not this time. My hand got pinned and since I was holding my drink with the captured limb, I couldn't get my hand out without dropping a soda all over the elevator floor (not to mention losing some very needed Diet Coke). Finally a neighborly onlooker pulled the doors open enough for me to put my bags down and squat down to put my drink on the elevator floor, allowing me to pull my hand out of the doors' grasp. It took some tricky work to get the elevator doors to close then open properly...but we did, I retrieved my beverage and we sent that elevator to the top floor...then waited for the other elevator. The moral of the story - I won't let my Diet Coke go without a fight.
