A random rant

Time. It's a tricky thing. It tends to move much more quickly between 6:00PM and 6:00AM...why is that? Yet for some reason I still manage to justify spending hours and hours on my computer at night. Between facebook, myspace, blogs and emails, how is there time to do anything else? Not to mention all the shopping, Netflix queue updates, solitaire,etc.
Award season - not so long ago, I was a huge fan. I enjoy movies of all sorts and I enjoyed seeing who won the various awards and (let's be honest) what everyone wore. Something happened this year and I've totally lost my taste for it. Perhaps after last year's writers strike, it's become tainted. The strike last year was for more money, correct? Yet the movies being "honored" are being so due to their "artistic achievement". Really? How short minded are we? Let's be honest about what we're doing, shall we. It's not art, it's a paycheck. And award shows are just another platform to promote your movies and the people in them.
Vacation - I consider myself to be patriotic. I love the country in which I live and I'm proud of many things about it. Unfortunately on the subject of vacation, we missed the mark. Let's follow the example of our friends to the east and provide more vacation time as standard for our hard working citizens.
