So there I sat Sunday evening, unwinding from a full weekend, I'd just put some chocolate chip pumpkin muffins in the oven and was enjoying the evening when someone knocked on my door. It was my neighbor (who I'd never met before) and she was frantically saying something about water and flooding... so I went over to her apartment with her and saw the water shut off valve behind her toilet had broken - the know the thing you turn to turn the water off - had snapped off - and water was spraying into her bathroom with great force, I might add. The next TWO HOURS I spent wringing out soaked towels and calling the management company (the building manager was gone...of course) while my neighbor tried to catch as much water as possible in a plastic tub and dump it into the bathtub. By the time the plumber got there and turned the water off to the building and fixed the valve, the water had flooded the two apartments below her and the garage which is below that. It was a night...
The good news is:
1. I live next door and not below the flooded apartment so my apartment is still dry
2. My neighbor is really nice and I'm sure it would have taken several months before I met her, if it wasn't for the great Niagara Falls incident.

So sorry about Niagra Falls, glad you got to meet your neighbor, so glad we had left before it happened, so sorry we weren't there to help.
Aren't you thankful that it wasn't you? Did your muffins burn?
Atleast you will always be able to laugh about the flood when you see her. It gives you something in common! Glad you're getting to know your nieghbors even if it's being forced by higher powers! :)
