WMMH

I haven't done this in a really long time. But what's making me happy right now, this minute is Sir Paul. The pictures didn't turn out all that well but the show was incredible and I'm so glad I got to experience it with this ball of tears. πŸ˜‚❤️🎼

The luxury of being able to hug my favorite veterans is what is making me happy this week. Thank you to all who have served and do serve our country.

Road Trip Day 3

Crater Lake or bust! I have a million photos of the lake from various angles but this is my fave. It was such a beautiful day to do some exploring and enjoy the breath taking views!

Road Trip Day 2

Day 2 we made it into Northern California and Redwood National Park.
This is a random wrecked ship we passed in a harbor. I thought it looked cool.

CALIFORNIA!!!

Trees of Mystery

Cuz you have to stand in a hollowed out tree, right?

It was a very sunny and pretty day to wander in the huge redwood trees.

Yep, I'm a tree-hugger.

It's cheesy and I love it.

I love it this much!

Somehow we timed it right and had the tree to ourselves. Great end to a busy and fun day!

Road Trip Day 1

Spent a few days behind the wheel and got to see some lovely sites.

An elk lookout in Oregon. I didn't see any elk, just lots of birds. But it was really pretty.

Who knew!? Ihad no idea is even be driving through the chainsaw carving capital of Oregon but I sure am glad I did!

We even stuck around for the beginning of an auction to sell some of the carvings.  I'm not 100% sure this is a "sad eyed love bear" but it's close.

A lighthouse in Bandon, OR.

Happy

What's making me happy tonight is this group of fools. Fools with great senses of humor and fools willing to try something new regardless of age. I had such a fun time at my adult tap class this past year. Here's the class, just after our final recital performance. What a fun time!!

WMMH 6.8.15

Part 2 - air conditioning makes me happy. It's before noon and already in the 90s. Temperatures are supposed to rise to over 100 degrees while I'm trying to sleep this afternoon. I'm so happy I live in a home with temperature control AND my own personal AC unit to help make my afternoon sleeping more comfortable. In addition I'm grateful to work in buildings that also provide comfortable temperature control. In days like this, it makes such a difference!!

WMMH 5.11.15

Saturday night was one of those magical desert evenings - after a warm day, the heat lingered into the sun down hours. It was that first delightful no-jacket night of running errands in a t-shirt and being perfectly comfortable. Love it!!

WMMH 5.4.15

What happened to April? I totally dropped the ball on this. A post-free blog not withstanding, there is a lot making me happy. The past several weeks, I've found myself logging many hours driving from one end of the state to the other. I'm grateful to have so many loved ones within a reasonable driving distance. It comes in so handy when trying to watch sporting events and in meeting new family members and just spending time together. This is such a lovely time of year for a road trip. In just a couple of hours, I enjoy driving through lush mountains, the lovely desert (no irony here, the desert really is lovely) blooming fields of hops, apples, cherries and vineyards. It also feels so quaint to drive by sports fields filled with kids playing soccer or baseball and even catching some action, driving by the stock car trace track.
So I guess this month what's making me happy is friends and family, a functioning and comfy vehicle, and spring. :)

WMMH 3.30.15

Windy days aren't always awesome. Saturday however was an awesome windy day that is still making me happy this week. We made good use of the blowing winds and flew some kites. It was so fun to watch the kids figure out their own process and especially watching that little 4 year old, determined to fly his kite by himself. :)

A bit wind-blown but happy to be outside enjoying spring.

And this little boy is making me really happy this week! He made the decision to be baptized this weekend and I am so proud of him!

And I'm so happy I get to be his aunt!

WMMH 3.23.15

Last weekend I got to spend a couple of days relaxing and catching up with some of my favorite girlfriends and that is still making me very happy this week.
Sleeping Lady Mountain. Do you see the sleeping lady in the ridge top?

I woke up early Saturday morning and watched the sun rise and the clouds roll away on Icicle Creek. We really lucked out with the weather. On Friday and Saturday it was really nice out - sun was shining and the nights were clear enough to enjoy all of the stars. Sunday morning was a little rainy for the drives home but not bad for late in March.

The food at the resort is so great! It's fresh and delicious and the buffet style allowed us to enjoy a little bit of everything. Or a lot of some things. :) I've known two of these dear friends since I was 11 and was lucky enough to meet the other as a college freshman. So grateful to call them all friends and happy that we all live close enough to see each other at least once a year. Girls weekends always make me happy!

WMMH 2.16.15

St. Patrick's day is so great! Celebratory activities are fun but don't tend to be thrown in the faces of those who choose to not celebrate. Preparation is minimal. Creativity can enhance celebration but it isn't totally necessary. Growing up, my mom dyed everything green that could possibly be dyed. Including my tuna fish sandwich when I was 9. It was always fun to see what might be green the morning of St. Patrick's Day. Milk? (Always green.) cinnamon rolls? Eggs? Homemade bread? Butter? Potatoes? Pancakes? Tuna? Yes, of course they were all green.
I don't quite go all out like my mom but I do like to make at least one thing green. Because my schedule doesn't allow for much kitchen time during the week I got all of my culinary March holiday observance done in one day, with just one meal.
Shepherds Pie
Pie for pi day-check
Irish-check
Delicious-check
Cake - white cake dyed green with chocolate frosting.
Green food-check
Cake for Billy Day-check
Met my quota for cooking for the next six months-check!

WMMHTW 3.9.15

Because of my work schedule, I frequently have the opportunity to watch the sun rise. A fairly new phenomenon for me. I've always been a night person and therefore more of a sunset kind of person, preferring to still be asleep when the sun rises. Well the weather recently has been really nice and clear. Because of this, there have been some really pretty sunrise skies. There is a song I really like that references "pink ribbon skies". I really like that phrase. It's so pretty and ...decorative. Anyway between the early morning drives I've had occasion to take recently and my early morning work hours, enjoying the pink ribbon skies is what's making me happy this week.

WMMH 02.22.15

What's making me happy this week. Two things.
1. The weather. It's been really sunny and warm. No coats required. It's been awesome. Sorry east coasters.
2. Proximity to family. This isn't something that always makes me happy. Sometimes it just feels complicated. But this week I got to spend some once in a lifetime quality time with my nephew and it's making me very happy this week. :)
